meet blake
Blake Bracht is an Arizona attorney and is ready to bring his commitment to fairness and opportunity for all Americans to Washington, D.C.
Blake was raised in a rural community about 30 miles northwest of Omaha, Nebraska. His father, Dennis, built a successful agricultural business and his mother, Sheila, took on the task of raising Blake and his two younger siblings. His grandparents on both sides proudly farmed, raised livestock, and were key figures in their respective communities.
Upon graduating high school, Blake moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he attended Saint Louis University and studied business. While at SLU, Blake served as Secretary, then President of SLU’s College Democrats chapter. Blake later earned a law degree from the University of Missouri, where he met his wife, Allyson, a Tucson native. They returned to Arizona together and set down roots in San Tan Valley.
Blake has practiced law in Arizona for three years and helps everyday Arizonans with everyday legal problems. Blake and Allyson expect their first child later this summer.
Blake’s first experience as a voter was in the 2016 general election, where he participated in Nebraska’s Democratic Party Caucuses in favor of Bernie Sanders. Blake was in his freshman year at SLU when Donald Trump was elected to his first term. The immediate shift in the nation was shocking. Immigrants, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community were targeted by the administration, Trump’s tax cuts for the wealthy widened the wealth gap, and only Senator John McCain’s courageous vote narrowly preserved health care access for millions of Americans. Due to the first Trump administration’s reckless dismantling of key public health services and refusal to listen to experts, much of Blake’s first two years of law school had to be held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blake got directly involved with the local Democratic Party efforts shortly after setting down roots in Arizona. He was outspoken among the local volunteers for the need to replace President Biden as the Party’s nominee. Unfortunately, that change came too late and despite the efforts of Kamala Harris and her campaign, the Democrats fell short. After that defeat, he knew he needed to run. Congress needs new, younger voices that will carry us into the future.
